GENERAL DIRECTOR - Jan Pogány ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - Midori Ahmed Agencja Koncertowa Presto we Wrocławiu INTERNATIONAL BRAHMS FESTIVAL Brahms in Wroclaw  -  Romantic Adventure 20 - 25 May 2017 VI International Brahms Festival Director General Jan Pogány Jan Pogany, a conductor, cellist and composer , was a laureate of the 2nd award at the International Composer Competition in Torrenvieja /Spain/. In 2009 he was awarded a bronze medal at the International Composer Competition in Luxembourg for a composition for violin and orchestra called "Fantazja" /"Fantasy"/. He studied cello and conducting at Richard Strauss Conservatoire in Munich ; earlier he also studied at Music Academy in Wrocław. In 1988 Jan Pogany gave a solo concert for Prince Charles Mountbatten- Windsor, the heir to the British throne. Having completed his studies he played in a duo with a Polish pianist Urszula Mitręga for many years. Next he cooperated for a long time with lots of orchestras, among others with the Korean Chamber Orchestra from Seoul and with orchestras from Japan, Germany and Greece. He made recordings, among others, for the Bavarian Radio and Television in Munich, for the German Sat1 Television and also for Polish radio stations in Szczecin and Koszalin. The Madrid Television recorded his performance of Chopin's music in the Carthusian Monastery at Valldemossa , Mallorca /where Chopin stayed in the winter of 1838/39/. In 2014 he performed the world premiere of his own composition called "Oman’s Serenade". Among his works are also operas: "Akrobata" /"An acrobat"/and “Miramare”, a musical "Rejs" /"A cruise"/, Requiem "Japan Raphsody" and the Kołobrzeg Cantata, commissioned by the Mayor of Kołobrzeg to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the foundation of the city, and also film music, among others, to a detective TV series for the German Sat1 Television.
